I have been wanting to start a family blog for soooo long now and FINALLY decided to tonight. Not only, is it a great way to capture special moments and share it with friends and family, but also something to share with Logan when he gets older. I think last night drew the final straw telling myself I just need to DO IT after I read a friend's sweet blog. So here I am....
Logan is now two and is growing up way too fast ( I still can't believe it took me this long to blog). He surprises us day by day as he learns something new. We make a BIG deal and praise him with smooches, clapping, bear hugs, high fives, fist pound, and shouting "yay", and so on. He loves it when we praise him and will join us in praising himself as well.
Chad and I are teaching Logan both English and Vietnamese. Sometimes I wonder if he gets a little confused learning both languages. We try to speak more Vietnamese with him at home because from our experience growing up, he will pick up the English language fine once he starts school. BUT, Chad and I obviously speak more English than we do Vietnamese so we continuously remind each other to speak more Vietnamese at home. As of now, I would say Logan understands more Vietnamese, but speaks more English (which that is normal for bilingual kids I believe). However, some of the words that he has mastered in Vietnamese are: eyes, nose, mouth, hands, diaper, shirt, mom, dad, and can count to 3 (omitting one...lol). In English, he can say...mom, dad, Checker, Chloe, Jace (his buddy), go, no, please, thank you, welcome, excuse me, night night, dog, no more, all gone, car, truck, juice, chicken, two, three, poo, boo (his security blanky), gentle, ...those are the ones that stick out for now. And LAST NIGHT, he totally surprised me when he crept in my sewing room and said, "Mama, whatcha doing?". That was another part of the reason I made myself start this blog. I'm just letting all these special moments pass me by and not even documenting my baby's childhood. I have tons of pictures to share with him when he gets older, but it would be nice to have something for him to go back and read and one day share with his family. And of course, I will look back and bawl my eyes out each time I read the blogs... reminiscing the past. Anyway, all in all, in the end...it's better late than never, right?! I'm proud of myself for finally starting to blog. Now, let's see how often I will keep up with this blogging...lol.
Here are a few pictures of Logan at the beginning of age 2:
